R.I.P Doris Day
Doris was a high profile Hollywood actress, who starred alongside Cary Grant, James Stewart, and a host of others. She "Was a two-and-a-half pack a day smoker until about 1951", according to IMDb, and smoked during the 40's, 50's, 60's and 70's. She wrote in her autobiography that she quit smoking later in life, maybe in the 1980s, but later she was a closet smoker. For a time, she enjoyed smoking as much as any Hollywood actress, and even brought out an Album of songs under the title "Smoking For Pleasure", in which her soft romantic voice sang songs of warmth and pleasure.
Of course this proves beyond doubt that smoking kills, right? Wrong! Doris Day smoked 2-packs a day and lived until
97 years old. As some of the oldest women in the world were smokers, and lived until 115, surely this proves that smoking makes you live longer! RIP Doris, may you live on forever in our hearts and in our dreams.
